  • Changes to the Energy Efficienct Homes Package and Solar Hot Water Rebate

    The Government has announced immediate changes to both the Home Insulation Program and the Solar Hot Water Rebate Program;

    • Ceiling insulation rebate reduced to $1000 and will be claimed by the householder through Medicare. To commence 1st June 2010
    • Solar Hot Water Rebate reduced to $1000
    • Heat Pump Hot Water System rebate reduced to $600

  • Changes to the Energy Efficient Homes Package

    The Government has announced changes to the Energy Efficient Homes Package effective from 1st November 2009;

    • Insulation assistance up to a maximum of $1,200 regardless of whether the householder owns or rents the dwelling
    • Householders must obtain two genuinely independent quotes. Quotes must be written and based on a physical site inspection.
    • Installers MUST use an appropriate cover over down lights and other relevant ceiling appliances, as approved and installed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards. Where it is not possible to install a cover (e.g. due to space limitations in flat ceilings,) installers MUST still leave the minimum clearance distance required under the relevant Standards.

  • Energy Efficient Homes Package Up and Running

    The Federal Governments Energy Efficient Homes package came into effect on July 1st 2009. This package allows owner-occupiers to have ceiling insulation installed up to the value of $1600. If the quoted cost of the job is more than $1600, then the homeowner only pays the difference.

    Landlords and tenants are also eligible to have ceiling insulation installed up to the value of $1000.

    The Energy Efficiency Group is accredited to install Ceiling Insulation under the scheme, and it has proven to be extremely popular.

  • Federal Government Energy Efficient Homes Program Announced

    Yesterday the Federal Government announced the "Energy Efficient Homes Package", a $4 billion program aimed at making existing homes more comfortable and energy efficient, and saving home owners money on energy bills.

    Under the program the Federal Government is offering;

    * A rebate of up to $1600 for the installation of ceiling insulation into owner-occupied homes that are currently uninsulated, or
    * A $1600 rebate on the costs of installing a solar hot water system
    * A rebate of up to $1000 for landlords to install ceiling insulation into rental properties

    The program guidelines will be available from 26th February, and the program will commence 1st July 2009.

    Installation of ceiling insulation or solar hot water systems undertaken from yesterday, 3rd February 2009, will be eligible for the rebate once the program commences.

  • A first for New South Wales.

    Drilling has begun on the first Earth to Air Ground Sourced Direct Exchange Air Conditioning System to be installed in New South Wales.

    The 36kW Reverse Cycle System, consisting of four 90 metre bores and two 18kW Compressors, is being installed during a house renovation in the Southern Highlands.

    The system will offer enormous savings in energy use over traditional air sourced systems, will be quiter while operating and have less visual impact.

  • The long awaited Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme Green Paper has been released by the Department of Climate Change.

    Submissions are invited in response to the green paper. The Government will take stakeholder feedback into account when preparing a white paper and accompanying exposure draft legislation.

    Submissions are due on or by 10 September 2008.

  • The Shoalhaven City Christian Outreach Church are building a new centre including a new auditorium with a seating capacity of 700-1000 people, additional ministry and office rooms which include a large Prayer Room, Muso's Green Room, Multimedia Production Room, a Recording Studio, New Christians Room, a Book Shop, Parents Room, larger luxurious Bathrooms, Offices, and an elegant new Foyer.

    The Energy Efficiency Group are pleased to be a supply partner on this project.   • The Milk Factory in Bowral was originally built in 1921. In July 2005 it opened as an Art Gallery and Exibition space and since early 2007 has been undergoing a wonderful program of expansion and renovation.

    To enable the full potential of the Milk Factory's 7 metre ceilings and enormous timber rafters and beams to be realised the Energy Efficiency Group worked closely with the Architect and Project Manager to specify and supply insulation products that could achieve the desired outcome, while not compromising the aesthetics of the project.

    Products used during the renovation works include Protherm thermocellular insulation, Polyester thermal insulation and Polyester acoustic insulation.

  • The Woonona-Bulli Home Energy Challange has officially finished.

    The Challenge was able to help over 200 households in Woonona and Bulli save money on their energy bills and reduce their greenhouse gas emmisions.

    Key Outcomes of the Project include;

     · Peak demand reductions achieved were 145 KVA for summer and 192 KVA for winter, 22% and 23% above anticipated results, respectively
    ·
    Total energy saving was 369 MWh, an average of 2200KWh per household per year
    ·
    Total greenhouse gas emissions savings were 343 tonnes, an average reduction of over 2 tonnes per household
    ·
    The package that contributed to the biggest savings per installation was solar hot water
    ·
    The biggest overall savings were achieved by fuel switch hot water

    Additional benefits include
    • Education to help residents move from concern about climate change to behaviour change and utilising energy efficient technologies
    • Quality assurance through selecting best practice contractors and high quality products
    • Local employment by using local, and mostly small, businesses
    • Peak demand reductions delay the need for expensive upgrades of electrical substations
    • Many low-income households could afford more efficient appliances than the norm, and in some instances, could afford additional energy efficient packages

  • The NSW Government has announced rebates for the installation of Solar and Electric Heat Pump Hot Water Systems under the states Climate Change Fund.

    Eligible applicants can recieve a rebate of up to $1200, dependant on the efficiency of the installed system.

    The rebate is available from 1st October 2007 and is in addition to currently available Federal Government rebates and Renewable Energy Certificate rebates.

    The Energy Efficiency Group are suppliers of Conergy and Chromagen Hot Water Systems and can assist homeowners with their rebate applications.

  • The NSW Government has announced rebates for the installation of Ceiling Insulation under the states Climate Change Fund.

    Eligible applicants can recieve a rebate for half of the cost of the product and installation, up to a maximum rebate of $300.

    This rebate is available from 1st October 2007.

  • The Federal Government has anounced a $1000 rebate to install Solar and Heat Pump hot water systems to eligible homes.

    This rebate became available from the 18th July 2007 and is in addition to the currently available Renewable Energy Certificate rebate.

  • The Photovoltaic Rebate Program has been increased to $8 per peak watt (to a maximum of $8000) and has been extended to June 2012. This rebate is available for eligible grid connected residential systems.

  • Remote Power Generation Programme rebates are available for households, communities, not-for-profit, business, government and other organisations in areas of Australia that do not have easy access to main-grid electricity.

    Rebates of up to 50% of the capital cost of the system are available for eligible applicants.
