The Australian Federal Government's Green Loans Program is designed to assist Australian families to understand their energy use, reduce their energy use through behavioural changes, and install products that will improve the energy efficiency of their homes, increase comfort levels, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and save money on energy bills.

The Green Loans Program will provide:

• detailed, quality household sustainability assessments at no cost to the householder

The five year program commenced in July 2009.

Households looking to save energy and water will have access to a qualified household sustainability assessor to investigate their current energy and water use. Households who participate in a household sustainability assessment will be provided with a tailored report on the best water and energy saving changes they can make to their property and practical information to help get them started.
